Racquet Repair FAQ

Racquet Repair FAQS:

Can I reduce the size of my grip?

Tennis grips: If the racquet handle is down to the core palette with the grip removed and it is still too big, then unfortunately it is probably going to need a  smaller palette replacement with the right size for you.

Squash grips:  Most racquets have default grip sizes. If you have not removed a replacement grip that may be on the racquet, this can be worth a try and then replace that with an over grip or two.

Badminton grips: Grip sizes can vary on badminton and a palette reduction can be an option. But again, If you have not removed a replacement grip that may be on the racquet, this can be worth a try and then replace that with an over grip or two. Otherwise, it is probably going to need a  smaller palette replacement with the right size for you.

Replacing badminton grommets?

From time to time badminton racquet grommets may or may not need replacements. We see this problem in racquets from time to time that have had lots of play and try our best to assist with our approach below to avoid over charging customers for unnecessary repair work.

Essential Replacement:

When you restring with us, we undertake a grommet check in our initial racquet inspection. At the end of our initial badminton racquet inspection, we may advise you that x number of grommet(s) "need" replacement if we think that there will be a significant impact the string life from frame abrasion if not replaced. Please note that grommet charges apply at 50p each accordingly if you wish to proceed with the replacement(s). We do not take any responsibility for grommets as strings can break for a variety of reasons.

Beneficial Replacement:

At the end of our badminton racquet inspection and in some cases after a restring is undertaken, if no essential replacements are needed, we may also advise customers that x number of grommet(s) "may benefit" from replacement of mildly worn grommets at some stage in the future, but are not be essential at point of the current restring in order to preserve the replacement string set. Please note that grommet charges apply at 50p each accordingly if you wish to proceed with the beneficial replacement(s). Again, we do not take any responsibility for grommets as strings can break for a variety of reasons and not just worn grommets.

Although grommets can wear, we are always mindful of not over charging customers unnecessarily and make our recommendations based on the extent of grommet damage that will only impact the string life significantly. Otherwise you could be spending money unnecessarily on grommets that may look worn but not actually cause a break.
